Reading on a plane in Sweden

About Me

I'm a journalist, writer and broadcaster who's spent most of my career working in international news - in particular covering the stories of women. I started as a print journalist in London before moving to India, Australia and East Timor where I reported on the 1999 vote for independence. In 2002, I joined the BBC World Service, reporting and producing from South Africa, Jerusalem, Brussels, Delhi and Washington. I was the BBC correspondent in Nepal from 2009 - 2011 and afterwards became the South Asia Editor in the BBC newsroom. In 2019, I published a non-fiction book, Red River Girl, on the murder of an indigenous schoolgirl in Canada. I'm now living in rural Wiltshire where I continue to write and make podcasts.
